Description of WorkThe Nebraska Invasive Species Council (NISC) serves as an advisory council to Nebraska’s Governor and Legislature. NISC focuses on invasive species of all taxa of concern to Nebraska’s natural resources, NISC members and other stakeholders.
As the Council Coordinator – Nebraska Invasive Species Council, you will:
- Serve as the coordinator for all state and federal agencies and non-governmental organizations involved in invasive species research, management, outreach, and policy across the state of Nebraska
- Provide direction and oversight of activities and represent the Council as the liaison with the State Legislature
- Collaborate with agencies and organizations to develop state-wide plans for managing invasive species and manage a web-based information clearinghouse on research, management, identification, and potential spread of established and emerging invasive species
- Facilitate development of materials and outreach activities for Nebraska governments, individual stakeholders, and the general public regarding the management and awareness of invasive species.
- Network with other invasive species biologists in the state and region, including diverse stakeholders such as the public, state and federal government agencies, non-government organizations and others

MinimumRequired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in biology or closely related field, plus five years’ experience in research management, outreach, extension, education, policy or closely related area
- Knowledge and interest in invasive species required
- Ability to conduct research and synthesize information for publication essential-
- Knowledge of web design
- Ability to relate to a variety of constituents and to develop and present outreach materials to a variety of stakeholders necessary
- Supervisory experience or the ability to supervise required
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet University driving eligibility requirements required
- Extension or outreach experience.
