** About the role.
** The HR Specialist is responsible for providing local HR support in these main areas leveraging knowledge of local/regional/cultural nuances and handling unique language and time zone requirements.

* The HR Specialist is part of the plant HR team, with dotted line reporting to Service Delivery Manager and a member of the HR Specialist community of practice. This role requires onsite presence at our Grand Island Plant 5 days per week.
** What you’ll be doing.
*** Partner with Talent Acquisition as appropriate to execute local high volume employee recruitment efforts, such as maintaining job requisitions, running talent acquisition events, proactively sourcing candidates, and developing/maintaining the local candidate pool(s), and managing internal posting process.
* Execute the HR onsite onboarding of new hires in collaboration with the training team.
* Support people managers and employees with employee relations issues (activities may include conducting investigations, managing appeals, addressing misconduct, issuing discipline, suspension, and / or termination).
* Mitigating any potential risks and adhering to local legal requirements as it relates to separations.
* Manage org chart updates including but not limited to submitting cases for data and position updates, closures and changes.
* In combination with the site nurse, manage hourly employee leave of absence process, including working closely with leaves vendor, and initiating the leave of absence within the HR system. Examples include Short Term Disability, FMLA and LTD.
* Work with the Employee Experience Centre and HRBPs to manage any reductions in force / redundancy efforts, as well as employee retirements.
* Work with any relevant local authorities / vendors to ensure local legal requirements and business needs are adhered to.
* Share insights and trends with key stakeholders to drive more effective / efficient HR customer service delivery.
* Support and maintain the employee engagement program initiatives that reinforce the company’s goals and culture
* Act as a McCain brand ambassador engaging with employees onsite
** What you’ll need to be successful.
*** 1-3 years of experience as a HR Generalist or related progressive HR experience
* Bilingual (English/Spanish) required
* Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field preferred
* Professional Human Resources certification is considered an asset
* Experience with relationship building across all levels
* Policy, regulation, and employment law interpretation in the state of Nebraska
* Analytical skills, attention to detail along with a sense of urgency
* HRIS experience, technology adept
