Medical Surgical Cardiac ICU โ RN Contract ๐ฅ Unit Details
- Department: Medical Surgical Cardiac ICU
- Beds: 16
- Ratios: 1:2 (occasionally 1:1)
- Charge Nurse: Yes (takes assignment)
- Tech Ratio: 1:10
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS
- Young adults to geriatrics
- Sepsis
- STEMI
- Stroke
- Neurosurgery (crani recovery)
- COVID
- Renal failure
- Respiratory failure / COPD
- Cancer
- DKA
Experience with:
- ICP monitoring
- Balloon pump (occasional)
- CRRT
- Impella
- EVDs
- Lumbar drains
- Gaymar Hypothermia
- Camino Neuro Monitoring
- Arrow Balloon Pump
โ RNs required to titrate drips
Common Drips:
- Sedation
- Paralytics
- Pressors
- Antihypertensives
- Heparin
- Insulin
โ RNs must read & interpret their own tele strips
โ RT equipment:
Nasal cannula to vents (troubleshooting required)
- Day: 0630โ1900
- Night: 1830โ0700
- Unit scheduler creates schedule
- Every other weekend required
- Holidays as needed
- Mainly to PCU
- May float hospital-wide depending on competency
- RN:
Navy Blue
- Max 7 days per 13-week contract
- Must be submitted upfront
- No additional RTO approved after submission
