Responsibilities
  • Utilize the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation, and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to residents.
  • Collaborate with residents, families, and inter‑disciplinary colleagues, including providers, to plan, implement, and evaluate care.
  • Demonstrate competency and practice within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and use appropriate age and population‑specific standards as designated in the assigned clinical setting.
  • Provide preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, and treatment for residents in all phases.
  • Coordinate care, conduct resident assessments, provide resident education, and perform various nursing interventions.
  • May serve as charge nurse, delegating appropriate tasks to licensed and unlicensed assistive personnel within the job descriptions, skills, resident care needs, and the competence level of the delegate.
  • Provide assistance and support to delegates to ensure safe, reliable administration of resident care and resolution of care and service concerns.
  • Operate within the scopes and standards of nursing practice outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in the state of practice and licensure.
Qualifications
  • Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred (e.g., CCNE, ACEN, NLN CNEA).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred.
  • Current, unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.
  • Obtain and maintain required department‑specific competencies and certifications.
