The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) serves as caregiver to the resident during the scheduled work period in long term care (LTC). Provides resident‑centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). Delivers age‑appropriate care for the physical and psychological needs of the resident per the care plan. As a member of the nursing team, the CNA adheres to infection prevention and control policies and proper use of personal protective equipment.

The CNA assists with basic health care needs including bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, vital‑sign monitoring, and psychosocial support. The employee aids residents in transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct techniques and equipment, and may provide range‑of‑motion and passive exercises. Tasks also include food preparation, dining service, housekeeping, laundry assistance, and documentation of wellness and recreational activities. The CNA may participate in departmental committees and task forces as needed.

• High school graduate or GED preferred but not required.
• Minimum age of 16.
• Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long‑term care preferred.
• Required Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state‑certified CNA within four months of start date, or enrollment in a training program toward certification.
• Completes yearly department‑specific competency testing and maintains a record of continuing education, with a minimum of 12 hours annually.
• Maintains all department‑specific required certifications.
• Certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry when applicable.
• May be required to hold a valid driver’s license and meet medical qualification standards for driving duties per policy.
