Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with Common Spirit, including CHI and/or Dignity.
Driver's license required at submittal and will be used to determine if candidate is outside 50 miles..
Fingernail policy:
Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care- refusal to remove nails will lead to termination of contract.

- Pass/Fail exam on Friday during orientation.
OPEN BOOK exam on skills learned - they are given all necessary resources to pass.
Must receive a 90% to pass or they will be terminated * *.

- Nurse:
Patient Ratios: 1:4-5.
- Common diagnoses/Types of patients :
Young adults through geriatrics, sepsis, STEMI, CHF, chest pain, COVID, stroke, renal failure, COPD, DKA, patients with complex medical issues including multisystem failure.
- Are RNs required to titrate drips?:
Yes.
- Common titratable &/or set rate drips:
Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, IV antibiotics, Insulin; maintenance doses of IV meds (non titratable).
- Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?:
Yes.
- Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties?: CNAs 1:10 ratio- available CNAs fluctuates based on unit census.
- RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.):
BiPAP, Airvo.
- Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?:
Yes, RNs must read and interpret.
- Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?): , // Unit schedulers will make travelers schedule.
- Weekend Requirements:
Every other.
- Holiday Requirements:
As needed to meet unit needs.
- Floating Requirements:
Can float to Med Surg, Inpatient Rehab, or Skilled Care.
- Scrub Color/Dress code: RN:
Navy Blue.
- How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?:
First week classroom then 2-12 hour shifts on the floor.
- Additional Notes:
Busy patient flow- admitting and discharging within the same 6 hour time frame while also completing shift change.
Attributes that will help make a nurse successful on this unit are a strong sense of teamwork, friendly, positive can-do attitude, engagement in positive patient experience with commitment to bedside report and hourly rounding.
In June, we will transition to virtual nursing, which will increase our nurse-to-patient ratio to 1:6.
Each nurse will have their own CNA. The Charge RN will not have a patient assignment and the virtual nurse will assist with patient admissions, discharges, education, rounding, care plans, etc.
Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with Common Spirit, including CHI and/or Dignity.
RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract).
Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions.
