The stepdown unit provides care for a variety of patient diagnoses and is looking for dedicated Registered Nurses to join our team. This unit handles a busy patient flow, admitting and discharging patients within the same time frame while maintaining high standards of patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Provide nursing care to young adults through geriatrics with conditions such as sepsis, STEMI, CHF, chest pain, COVID, stroke, renal failure, COPD, and DKA.
- Monitor and assess patient status and communicate changes to the healthcare team.
- Titrate drips and manage medication administration, including Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, IV antibiotics, and Insulin.
- Engage in positive patient experiences by committing to bedside report and hourly rounding.
- Participate in interdisciplinary teamwork and collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals.
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5.
- The team includes Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) with a ratio of 1:10, who support nursing staff according to unit census.
- Charge Nurse available on each shift; responsibilities include oversight without a patient assignment.
- Additional support from telemetry/monitor techs; RNs are required to interpret their own telemetry strips.
This acute care setting operates 12-hour shifts with the following scheduling details:

Every other weekend. - Floating requirements include potential shifts to Med/Surg, Inpatient Rehab, or Skilled Care.
New hires will undergo a comprehensive orientation program including classroom training followed by on-floor shifts to ensure readiness for the role.
Qualifications- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are required.
- Registered Nurse license valid for practice.
