Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor and Delivery

Grand Island, NE | Labor and Delivery / LDRP

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (6:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Every Other Weekend Required | Holiday coverage required based on unit need

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care in an LDRP setting serving obstetric, postpartum, antepartum, post-surgical GYN, and high-risk patients (HTN, diabetes)
  • Titrate drips including Pitocin, Magnesium, and Procardia per clinical protocols
  • Maintain staffing ratios in accordance with AWHONN guidelines (1:3 general; 1:1 for actively laboring patients)
  • Participate in a unit-specific orientation consisting of one week of classroom training followed by 2–3 supervised floor shifts
  • Complete a required open-book skills assessment during orientation with a minimum passing score of 90%
  • Support a breastfeeding-friendly, Blue Distinction+ designated unit with high patient experience standards
Required Qualifications
  • Active RN license valid for practice in Nebraska
  • BLS certification required
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
  • Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery experience
  • Valid driver's license required at time of submittal (used to verify radius eligibility)
  • Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
  • Candidates currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN at any facility associated with Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity Health are not eligible
  • Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments; compliance is required for contract continuation
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Experience managing high-risk obstetric patients including those with hypertension or gestational diabetes
  • Familiarity with AWHONN staffing and care guidelines
  • Experience in a unit with moderate-to-high birth volume (approximately 400 births annually)
  • Comfort working in a combined LDRP model (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum)
