Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Security Officer, you will monitor buildings and grounds on the property to ensure the safety and security of employees, patients, and other visitors. You will monitor the property each day by walking and driving around the premises. Your security detail may include guarding facility and unit access points, monitoring surveillance cameras, testing new security technology, and protecting all employees/visitors against acts of violence should they arise.
To be successful, you’ll need the ability to remain calm and act based on the situation, known facts, and the position’s limitations. You are also expected to respond to emergency codes in a timely manner. Previous experience in security/patrol in a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Protecting staff, patients, and visitors by responding to calls for assistance in a timely and prudent manner. Calls may include incidents such as violent or unruly patients, visitors, crimes committed or in progress, or to emergency codes, and requests for opening doors.
- Patrol the facility and grounds by foot or vehicle; monitor security alarms and dispatch officers promptly to location(s) where needed; and report unsafe acts or conditions.
- Knowledge of emergency procedures, equipment, and supplies, including radios and hospital codes.
- Reports HIPAA breaches if witnessed; investigate security breaches, conduct investigations, and write incident reports.
- Ensures that all activities are logged. Incident reports are accurately completed, clear, concise, legible, and submitted in a timely manner.
- Use appropriate emergency and radio codes in dispatching security officers while knowing the hospital campus to ensure dispatches are to correct locations.
- High School Graduate or equivalent and Six (6) months experience as security officer in a healthcare setting, upon hire or
- Six (6) months experience as security officer in a healthcare setting or
- One (1) year experience as a security officer.
- Driver's License: NE, upon hire and
- Basic Life Support - CPR, within 90 Days.
