Definition

Majority of work performed is the painting of fire hydrants throughout the City.

Receives general supervision from an assigned supervisor.

Exercises no supervision.

• Display honest, trustworthy, and ethical behavior when dealing with internal and external customers.
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
• Regular attendance that is punctual and dependable is required.
• Prepare surface of fire hydrants for painting by wire brush or scraping.
• Utilize proper safety precautions in all work performed.
• May utilize a variety of hand and power tools, including mowers, weed eaters, etc.; assist in routine maintenance of such equipment.
• May perform routine preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.
• May perform semi-skilled and skilled tasks involving the maintenance, construction and repair of facilities.
• May perform landscape maintenance duties involving the grounds of City buildings.
• May perform basic carpentry work and painting for building and maintaining facilities and equipment.
• May perform a variety of duties in the installation, maintenance and repair of Citys irrigation systems.
• Water, mow, weed, trim, renovate and fertilize lawns; prune trees and shrubs; plant trees, flowers and shrubs; climb and trim trees.
• May assist in other sections of the Department as necessary.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

• Knowledge of:
  Methods, techniques, and procedures related to assigned area of responsibility.
• Knowledge of:
  Traffic laws, ordinances and rules.
• Knowledge of:
  Purposes and uses of a variety of equipment, power tools and hand tools.
• Ability to:
  Operate a variety of equipment in a safe and effective manner.
• Ability to:
  Work effectively in the absence of close supervision.
• Ability to:
  Use and operate hand tools, mechanical equipment, power tools and other equipment required for the work in a safe and efficient manner.

Employee must possess a valid drivers license and maintain insurability as determined by the Citys insurance carrier.
