Position: Class A City Loop Driver - $31.70/Hour - 4 Day Work Week!

Dohrn is currently seeking a Class A City Loop Driver at our Grand Island, NE Terminal.

Pay is $31.70/Hour to start and $32.97/Hour after the first year. Additional incentives for travel and overnight stays are available.

Shift Details: 4 DAY WORK WEEK – Monday through Thursday, with overnight duties on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Position Summary

Drive a tractor‑trailer long distance on a loop route to deliver and pick up freight. The position runs Tuesday through Friday for approximately 10–12‑hour shifts, including overnight stays on Tuesdays and Thursdays. A typical day starts around 8:30 AM and ends around 7:00–8:00 PM.

Essential Functions
  • Drive a commercial vehicle safely while picking up and delivering general freight.
  • Drive a commercial vehicle safely while transporting freight between terminals.
  • Load and unload the trailer, individually or with assistance from dockworkers; use available freight‑handling equipment where appropriate.
  • Perform frequent lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying of freight.
  • Secure freight through strapping or other methods as required.
  • Inspect the vehicle for defects and ensure safe operating conditions as required by law and company policy.
  • Comply with all federal requirements regarding the transportation of hazardous materials.
  • Drive tractor‑trailer in all conditions in accordance with federal regulations, maintaining hours of service and required off‑duty periods.
  • Maintain records required for compliance with state and federal regulations, including driver logs.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures, and comply with all federal, state, and local regulations for the safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle.
Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum age of 23.
  • At least 1 year of verifiable tractor‑trailer experience.
  • All drivers must pass a road test administered by a Dohrn Transfer Driver Trainer.
  • All drivers must possess, or obtain within the required time period, Hazardous Material and Tanker endorsements on their current valid driver’s license.
  • Drivers may hold only one valid CDL issued by the resident state; recent transfers must provide the former license or verification from the former state.
  • Must have no record of DUI/OWI or reckless driving in the previous 5 years.
  • Must have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • Must pass a Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). examination and functional screen.
  • Must consent to a pre‑employment drug screen; a negative result is required.
  • Must provide a negative controlled‑substance and alcohol test from prior employers for the past 3‑year period.
  • Must not have refused alcohol or controlled‑substance testing in the past 3 years.
  • Must consent to a 10‑year work history check. Gaps of 30 days or more must be listed and explained.
  • Must be able to read and write in English and perform simple mathematical calculations.
  • Employment is at‑will throughout the term; no guarantee of employment for any period of time.
Working Conditions /

Physical Requirements
  • Grip a variety of sizes and weights up to 100 pounds.
  • Lift up to 100 pounds from ground level to 45 inches or at waist level to 36 inches.
  • Front carry up to 100 pounds for 250 feet.
  • Push/pull up to 60 pounds of horizontal force.
  • Sit up to 10 hours per day.
  • Stand and walk frequently.
  • Climb, squat, crouch, balance, or kneel occasionally; crawl rarely.
  • Reach frequently during gear shifts, freight movement, and trailer door operations.
  • Grasp and handle frequently while loading and unloading freight and operating the front jacks.
  • Speak with coworkers and customers to safely perform job functions.
  • Use vision constantly for driving, reading maps, and inspecting the vehicle.
  • Use smell occasionally to detect leaks.
  • Use hearing frequently for unusual sounds or warning signals.
  • May be exposed to extreme temperatures, humidity, wetness, dust, gas, fumes, or chemicals.
