Full Time Non CDL Driver – Grand Island, MI

Compensation and Benefits

Pay: $23.38/hour to start, $27.38/hour after the first year.

Hours:

Monday‑Friday, dayshift.

Quarterly safety incentive bonus: $250 per quarter, potential to earn up to $1,000 annually.

Position Summary

Drive a non‑CDL vehicle between customer locations to deliver and pick up freight at dock‑height.

Essential Functions
  • Drive a non‑CDL vehicle safely while transporting freight between terminals.
  • Load and unload vehicle independently or with assistance of dockworkers; mechanical freight handling equipment may be used where available and appropriate.
  • Perform frequent lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying of freight.
  • Secure freight through strapping or other methods when required.
  • Inspect the vehicle for defects and ensure safe operating conditions as required by law and company policy.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures, and comply with all federal, state, and local regulations for the safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Minimum Requirements

Age: 21 or older.

  • High school completion or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license and at least 3 years of driving experience.
  • Class C endorsement if in Illinois or #2 endorsement if in Indiana.
  • All drivers must possess only one valid driver’s license issued by the resident state. Recent transfers must provide a copy of the former license or verification from that state; all licenses held within the previous 36 months must be disclosed.
  • No DUI/OWI or reckless driving conviction within the past 5 years.
  • Must have and maintain an acceptable motor‑vehicle record (MVR).
  • Must pass a Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). examination and functional screen.
  • Must consent to a pre‑employment drug screen;
    Dohrn Transfer must receive a negative result.
  • Must receive a negative controlled‑substance and alcohol result from prior employer(s) for the past three‑year period; no prior evidence of controlled‑substance use.
  • No instances of refusal to submit to an alcohol or controlled‑substance test within the past three years.
  • Must consent to a 10‑year work‑history check; gaps of 30 days or more must be listed and explained; documentation may be requested; discrepancies may prevent applications from being processed or result in withdrawal of the job offer.
  • Must have the ability to read and write the English language and perform simple mathematical calculations.
  • Excellent attendance.
Working Conditions /

Physical Requirements
  • Grip objects up to 100 pounds.
  • Lift up to 100 pounds from ground level to 45″; lift at waist level or 36″.
  • Front‑carry up to 100 pounds for 250 feet.
  • Push/pull up to 60 pounds of horizontal force.
  • Sit for up to 10 hours per day.
  • Stand and walk frequently.
  • Climb, squat, crouch, balance, or kneel occasionally.
  • Crawl rarely.
  • Reach frequently while operating the vehicle, loading/unloading freight, and closing rear trailer doors.
  • Grasp and handle frequently during loading/unloading and while operating the trailer jack.
  • Must communicate with coworkers and customers to perform job functions safely.
  • Vision is used constantly while driving, reading maps, and inspecting the vehicle.
  • Smell is used occasionally to check for leaks.
  • Hearing is used frequently to listen for vehicle sounds and warning alarms.
  • May be exposed to extreme temperatures, humidity, or wetness.
  • May be exposed to dust, gas, fumes, or chemicals.
