the deposit officer (do) is an exempt officer position that is a proactive, sales-driven banking professional responsible for sourcing and growing deposit relationships for the bank. This officer role is focused on developing new business opportunities, building long-term client relationships, and expanding the bank’s deposit portfolio through strategic outreach and community engagement. In this role, the deposit officer helps deepen client relationships, improve deposit stability, generate non-interest fee income, reduce client attrition, and support lending and treasury relationships.
the deposit officer will also play a key role in product development, marketing, and compliance as it relates to deposits. The deposit officer is expected to be out in the community attending events, meeting prospects, identifying high-potential customers, and actively recommending strategies to grow the bank’s deposit base while strengthening full-relationship engagement across deposit, cash management, and lending solutions.
essential duties and responsibilities- develop and execute a personal business development plan targeting strategic deposit growth and increased adoption of value-added account services.
- attend networking functions, business events, community meetings, and other opportunities to promote the bank’s deposit products, digital banking capabilities, and payment solutions.
- partner with internal teams (commercial lending, treasury, retail banking, and branch staff) to deliver full banking relationships, including ach services, wire transfers, remote deposit capture, fraud prevention tools, and liquidity structures.
- proactively identify, engage, and secure new deposit relationships through community outreach, networking, in-person visits, and follow-ups, expanding operating accounts, payment solutions, and overall banking relationships.
- develop and execute forward-thinking strategies to identify market opportunities, improve client cash flow and account retention, and drive sustainable deposit growth and relationship expansion.
- design and launch deposit-focused products, promotional initiatives, and incentive programs to attract new clients, enhance existing relationships, and drive measurable deposit growth and returns.
- act as the primary client contact and trusted advisor, providing expert guidance on deposit products, digital platforms, and treasury solutions while ensuring seamless onboarding, ongoing service excellence, and optimized account structures.
