The Chipping Crew Foreman oversees daily operations of a crew executing chipseal, asphalt patching, paving and general duties. The role primarily involves supervisory duties with occasional hands‑on labor and equipment operation as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinates daily work activities, job site organization and reading of plans.
  • Supervises and schedules work crews.
  • Organizes job site goals, timelines and budgets.
  • Orders required supplies and materials.
  • Drives to various job site locations.
  • Assists with general laborer duties as needed, including shoveling, laying asphalt and other tasks.
  • Assists with heavy equipment operation, if trained, as needed at job site locations.
  • Maintains time and materials records necessary to complete daily job costing.
  • May be subject to drug testing, medical exams and physical abilities testing.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, pass a pre‑employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check. Must strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook. Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co‑workers or supervisors with other duties as required. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.

Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.

Education/Experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • of related construction experience or an equivalent combination of education and training.
Work Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Standard Driver’s License required
  • CDL preferred—Tanker, Air Brakes endorsements
Physical Requirements

The employee is frequently required to sit, climb, and use hands to signal and handle equipment. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above their shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move anywhere up to 50-75 lbs. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
