The Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day field operations of construction projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to Quikrete Construction’s quality standards. This role leads field crews, coordinates subcontractors, and serves as the primary on-site point of contact to drive successful project execution.
Responsibilities Project Execution & Leadership- Plan, schedule, and oversee daily construction activities from mobilization through project closeout.
- Lead and supervise field crews, foremen, and subcontractors to ensure productivity and accountability.
- Coordinate labor, equipment, and materials to meet project schedules.
- Communicate daily progress, challenges, and needs to Project Managers and Operations leadership.
- Enforce QK Construction’s safety policies and OSHA requirements at all times.
- Conduct daily job site safety meetings and inspections.
- Identify and correct unsafe conditions or behaviors immediately.
- Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Ensure all work is performed per project plans, specifications, and company quality standards.
- Perform inspections and coordinate testing as required.
- Address and resolve quality issues proactively to avoid rework.
- Scheduling & Coordination.
- Develop and maintain short-term look-ahead schedule.
- Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and work sequencing.
- Anticipate potential delays and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate daily reports including labor, equipment, quantities, and production.
- Assist with progress tracking, change orders, and project documentation.
- Participate in project meetings and communicate updates to stakeholders.
- Represent professionally on-site with owners, inspectors, and municipalities.
- Respond promptly and professionally to field inquiries or concerns.
- 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent or Foreman in construction (heavy civil, asphalt, paving, or similar preferred).
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, and field operations.
- Proven leadership and crew management experience.
- Strong understanding of job site safety and OSHA standards.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Experience with asphalt paving, grading, concrete, or civil infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency with construction technology (daily reports, scheduling tools, tablets, etc.).
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to stand, walk, and work on active construction sites for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
