The Davis School of Business at Colorado Mesa University seeks a Visiting Instructor of Economics with a primary focus on high‑quality instruction. The one‑year, full‑time, non‑tenure‑track position begins August 2026 and will be based at the Grand Junction campus. The instructor will teach primarily in‑person courses and is expected to maintain currency and relevance within the discipline.
Responsibilities- Teach four undergraduate classes per semester, including Principles of Macroeconomics, Principles of Microeconomics, and potentially upper‑division Microeconomics courses.
- Deliver instruction in various formats (on‑campus, online, hybrid) with a focus on in‑person learning.
- Participate in department and university academic activities and community engagement.
Salary: $75,000‑$90,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience. Qualified candidates will receive a comprehensive health and retirement benefits package.
Minimum Qualifications Required- Master's degree in Economics or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate economics credit hours and significant work experience in economics.
- Demonstrated potential for exceptional teaching performance.
- Commitment to best practices in instruction and student advising/mentoring.
- Dedication to maintaining currency in economics and business.
- Potential for active involvement in institutional, community, and/or professional activities.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Experience teaching college‑level economics courses beyond student teaching.
- Five or more years of economics/business industry experience.
