Overview

Caprock Academy is seeking a full‑time Substitute Teacher for the 2026‑2027 school year. Caprock Academy is a public, tuition‑free school chartered by the Colorado Charter School Institute and utilizes the timeless principles of classically oriented education.

Caprock Academy follows the Core Knowledge curriculum in grades K–8. The curriculum encompasses language arts, mathematics, science, history, geography, fine arts, and physical education. It is content‑rich, cumulative, and follows a coherent sequence. The foundation of our academics is rooted in classical philosophy and pedagogy, following the grammar, logic, and rhetoric trivium. The mission is to help all students achieve their highest academic and character potential using accelerated programs while providing a safe environment.

This mission is achieved through strengthening the community via parental, educator, and community leader involvement to foster academic excellence and strong character. We shape global citizens who set life goals and practice service and virtue through our core values of character, accountability, and academics.

This is a full‑time, on‑campus position supporting students in grades K–12 across all subjects, including special education. The Full‑Time Substitute Teacher must be flexible and ready to step into a variety of roles as assigned each day. These may include classroom teacher, educational assistant, office personnel, special education support, or other school‑based roles.

This position plays a key role in maintaining continuity of instruction and supporting a safe and structured school environment. The work schedule is Monday through Thursday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, with duties that may include before‑ and after‑school supervision. The schedule follows the school calendar and is based on designated student contact days.

Reports to:

Executive Assistant to Head of School

• Implement teacher lesson plans
• Help faculty to always supervise students.
• Supervise playground duty before school, at recess, at lunch and after school as needed.
• Aid teachers in drop‑off and pick‑up duty before and/or after school.
• Facilitate the Pledge of Allegiance with students.
• Take attendance.
• Enforce school policies (e.g., dress code, technology usage, etc.).

• High school diploma. Associate or bachelor’s degree, preferred.
• Experience working with students, preferred.
• Desire and willingness to promote the mission and values of the school.
• Demonstrated effective classroom‑management skills.
• Ability and willingness to work effectively with peers and team members.
• Professional and personal integrity and judgment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Enrollment in Colorado’s Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA) including employer contributions
• Earned sick leave in accordance with Colorado’s Healthy Families and Workplaces Act
