Job Title: Friday Enrichment Tutor - Student employee Location: Ascent Classical Academy of Grand Junction FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: Aftercare Coordinator Work Hours/Days: Part Time, 3:30-5:30 Fridays Position Summary:
ACAGJ is hiring Friday Enrichment Tutors for the grammar school Enrichment program for the 2026-27 school year. Our enrichment tutors model good character, support students in completing their homework, provide a safe space to play, and encourage healthy friendships. We are seeking candidates with a high standard of excellence, professional demeanor, warm rapport with students, clear communication with parents and other staff members, and a can-do attitude to join our team.
The ideal candidate will be organized, diligent, and devoted to helping students grow in wisdom and virtue.
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Support the Friday Enrichment Program by providing a safe, structured, and positive environment for students.
- Assist students with homework completion, organization, and academic support as needed.
- Supervise student activities, including indoor and outdoor play periods, while maintaining student safety.
- Encourage positive peer relationships and help students practice appropriate social skills.
- Model the school's core virtues, professionalism, and respectful behavior at all times.
- Build positive relationships with students through encouragement, engagement, and appropriate mentorship.
- Follow all school safety procedures, policies, and expectations for student supervision.
- Communicate appropriately and professionally with students, parents, and staff members.
- Assist with maintaining an orderly and clean learning environment.
- Support classroom and enrichment activities as directed by the Aftercare Coordinator.
- Attend required training and meetings as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the needs of the school and enrichment program.
- Commitment to and support of Ascent Classical Academy Charter Schools, Inc.'s mission and vision.
- Ability and willingness to model moral character consistent with the school's core virtues.
- Adherence to all ACACS policies, including but not limited to the Employee Handbook, Family Handbook, and applicable school and board policies.

- Dependability, punctuality, and commitment to student safety.
- Experience working with children preferred.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn, grow, and accept feedback.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Eligibility to work in the United States.
- Successful completion of required background check in accordance with state law and Colorado Department of Education requirements.
- CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification.

- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and engage with students throughout the work period.
- Convictions for violent crimes, such as assault or domestic violence.
- Convictions for offenses against children, including abuse or endangerment.
- Drug-related offenses, particularly those involving the distribution or trafficking of controlled substances.
- Certain felony convictions, depending on their nature and recency.
- History of certain misdemeanors that may raise concerns about a candidate's suitability for working in an educational environment.
