SUMMARY
The Davis School of Business at Colorado Mesa University is seeking candidates for the rank of Assistant Professor of Accounting with their primary focus in high-quality instruction and curricular innovation. The position is full-time, tenure-track starting January
2027 (preferred) or August
2027. Colorado Mesa University (CMU) is a state-funded institution that emphasizes quality teaching and research, having embraced the teacher-scholar model. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester; courses are delivered on-campus, online, and in hybrid format, though our main focus is on in-person learning on a dynamic residential campus. Davis School of Business is AACSB accredited and the qualified candidate will be expected to maintain Scholarly Academic status.
In addition to teaching, scholarship within your discipline is expected along with advising students and service at the school and university level.
- Candidates may come from diverse backgrounds, with a range of experiences, achievements, and leadership roles, either within or outside academia.
- Candidates should have significant industry, business, or corporate experience relevant to accounting.
- As a member of the Davis School of Business, you will be expected to teach four classes per semester in a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses such as Principles of Financial and/or Managerial Accounting, Data Analytics for Accounting, Fraud and Forensic Accounting, and Managerial Accounting (graduate).
- Other related duties may be assigned.
Salary: $103,000 - $113,00 Commensurate with education and experience.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEREQUIRED:
A PhD or DBA in Accounting, or a closely related field with at least 18 accounting credit hours at the graduate level and significant work experience in accounting. ABD with a dissertation defense date and completion of all degree requirements on or before August 2027 will be considered. Demonstrated potential for exceptional teaching performance. Commitment to best practices in instruction and student advising/mentoring.
Demonstrated dedication to advancing a research agenda and producing scholarly work relevant to accounting Demonstrated potential for active involvement in institutional, community, and/or professional activities. Strong communication and organizational skills.
DESIRED:
Experience teaching college-level accounting courses beyond student teaching Certified Public Accountant, CPA Five or more years of accounting/business industry experience is strongly preferred given our hands-on, application-oriented approach in the classroom.
