Job Overview
The Environmental Services Janitor is responsible for cleaning and disinfecting offices; break rooms; conference rooms; public areas; hallways; stairwells; elevators; patient care areas, exam rooms, clinics; ancillary areas, and court rooms.
Responsibilities- Empty trash.
- High dust vents, ledges, and light fixtures.
- Disinfect horizontal surfaces and countertops.
- Spot clean walls and interior windows.
- Damp wipe high touch areas, toilets, sinks, water fountains.
- Disinfect handrails.
- Disinfect benches and chairs.
- Disinfect entrance doors and windows.
- Dry and wet mop hard surfaced floors.
- Vacuum and spot clean carpets.
- Restock paper products and hand soap dispensers.
- Follow all safety and accident prevention practices.
- Follow proper procedure for handling wastes and recyclables.
- Oral and written communications must be clear and effective.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Regular attendance to perform the essential duties on site during regularly scheduled shifts is required.
Minimum Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.
- All applicants must be able to pass a background check including a fingerprint check for CBI/FBI allowing access to restricted areas.

Physical Requirements & Working EnvironmentThis position requires standing, stooping, sitting, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 50 pounds. The employee may be exposed to dirt and dust for sustained periods of time and frequently to loud noise. The employee will be working with cleaning chemicals and equipment within the Sheriff’s Office detention facility and work release facilities. Work hours may vary at the discretion of the supervisor.
