We are currently seeking a Cyber Security Intern to support our team, DOE Office of Legacy Management (DOE LM) sites.
JobEssential Duties / Responsibilities
- Technical report writing and documentation
- Provide information and systems security support supervised by other team members
- Analyze security logs and reports from firewalls and boundary protection devices to detect, investigate, and report on potential threats to system confidentiality, integrity, and availability
- Identify vulnerabilities that are applicable to systems and applications to assess their severity and urgency
- Work with other IT staff to track corrective action, resolution progress, and mitigation of vulnerabilities
- Conduct research on emerging cyber threats and threat actors to help develop and refine threat intelligence campaigns
- Assist in developing materials for security awareness programs
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues with cybersecurity controls to ensure their effective operation
- Support operations and maintenance of cybersecurity toolsets
- Other duties as assigned
Education, License, Certification, and Experience
- Education:
Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program pursuing a degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field - Experience:

- Background Check (Criminal, Civil, Educational, Previous Employment, etc.)
- Driver Record Screen (for positions requiring on-the-job driving)
- Microsoft Office including but not limited to Excel and Word
- Basic understanding of computer networking concepts (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP)
- Familiarity with multiple operating systems (Windows, Linux)
- Interest in or exposure to scripting languages (e.g., Python, Power Shell) is a plus
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
