Cybersecurity - Intern

We are currently seeking a Cyber Security Intern to support our team, DOE Office of Legacy Management (DOE LM) sites.

• Technical report writing and documentation
• Provide information and systems security support supervised by other team members
• Analyze security logs and reports from firewalls and boundary protection devices to detect, investigate, and report on potential threats to system confidentiality, integrity, and availability
• Identify vulnerabilities that are applicable to systems and applications to assess their severity and urgency
• Work with other IT staff to track corrective action, resolution progress, and mitigation of vulnerabilities
• Conduct research on emerging cyber threats and threat actors to help develop and refine threat intelligence campaigns
• Assist in developing materials for security awareness programs
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues with cybersecurity controls to ensure their effective operation
• Support operations and maintenance of cybersecurity toolsets
• Other duties as assigned

Education, License, Certification, and Experience

• Education:
  
  Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program pursuing a degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field

• Microsoft Office including but not limited to Excel and Word
• Basic understanding of computer networking concepts (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP)
• Familiarity with multiple operating systems (Windows, Linux)
• Interest in or exposure to scripting languages (e.g., Python, Power Shell) is a plus
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
