CNC Machinist II
Location:
Grand Junction, CO 81506 Contract To Hire: 3 months Pay Rate: $30–$42/hour (The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.)
Schedule:
Monday–Thursday, 4:00 PM–2:30 AM Training
Shift: 7:00 AM–3:30 PM or 8:00 AM–4:30 PM for approximately 1+ month
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Machinist II to set up and operate 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC mills and CNC lathes
, including machines with live tooling. The ideal candidate will have strong experience reading blueprints, interpreting GD&T, setting tool offsets, and using precision measurement equipment to produce high-quality machined components.
- Set up and operate 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC mills and lathes
. - Operate CNC machines with and without live tooling.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions
. - Set tool offsets, work positions, feeds, and speeds.
- Understand and use G-Code/M-Code and/or Mazatrol
. - Assemble and install cutting tools.
- Monitor machine operation and identify worn or damaged tooling.
- Perform shop calculations for tooling, feeds, and speeds.
- Inspect finished parts using micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators
. - Apply GD&T requirements during machining and inspection.
- Safely load and unload parts from CNC machinery.
- Operate hand and power tools as required.
- Maintain a clean and organized 6S work area
. - Follow all safety, quality, and production requirements.
- 5+ years of machinist experience
. - Strong CNC machine setup and operating experience.
- Experience with 3-, 4-, or 5-axis CNC machining
. - Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T.
- Knowledge of G/M Codes and/or Mazatrol
. - Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators
. - Ability to perform basic machining calculations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent preferred.
- Mazak Mill experience.
- Mazak Integrex experience.
- Multi-axis machining experience.
- Experience with CNC setup, tooling, offsets, and precision inspection.
