Overview
The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice and coordination of care with other health team members.
Shift: Nights
Responsibilities- Assess: Perform appropriate assessment of physical, social, and psychological status (including cognitive, communicative, and developmental skills as appropriate). Seeks and evaluates information from the interdisciplinary team: patient, family, physician, non-nursing disciplines, support staff, others.
- Plan: Use assessment information and critical thinking to collaboratively develop an individualized plan of care. Actively seek patient, family, team, and physician involvement to develop the plan of care including needed education. Prepare for further support needs once current episode outcomes are met (e.g., teaching, referrals, follow-up).
- Implement: Direct the interdisciplinary care team via delegation, coordination, and collaboration as appropriate. Provide or delegate care consistent with the plan of care, guidelines of care, and licensure provisions. Set priorities and coordinate patient care delivery, managing time, supplies, and resources.
- Evaluate: Evaluate patient response to interventions through goal achievement, clinical outcomes, patient and family satisfaction. Revise the plan of care as indicated and reassess changes as appropriate.
- Professionalism: Promote the nursing profession and participate in the development of others. Integrate legal and ethical standards into practice, comply with regulatory standards, practice within licensure, provide accurate and timely documentation, and understand legal implications of care delivery.
- Minimum Qualifications
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in state of practice. Valid compact licenses must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of start.
- RNs with less than 12 months of experience must obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four years of hire date.
- Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.

Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. Frequent verbal interactions with patients and colleagues; ability to hear and understand spoken information, alarms, and issues quickly, especially during emergencies. Manual dexterity to manipulate complex equipment. Includes frequent computer use for documentation. Expected to lift and move patients and equipment. Ability to walk, transport/ambulate patients, and distribute supplies.
May be required to stand for extended periods. For driving roles, ability to drive a vehicle and observe traffic signals.
Location: St. Marys Regional Hospital, Grand Junction, Colorado
Hours: Scheduled weekly hours: 36
Compensation: The hourly range is $36.71 - $56.17, dependent on experience.
