Responsibilities
  • Respond to signal lights, bells, intercom system, and bed/tab alarms to determine patients’ needs.
  • Provide personal hygiene, grooming, comfort, rest, nourishment and other health assistance to patients.
  • Ensure meals are ordered within dietary restrictions, collect food trays, feed patients requiring help, and document all nutritional and supplemental intake per unit protocols.
  • Transport patients or assist patients to ambulate per physician orders.
  • Turn and reposition patients every two hours as indicated, alone or with assistance, to prevent skin breakdown and pressure ulcers.
  • Apply compresses, ice bags, TED hose, and SCDs as indicated.
  • Take, record, and report temperature, blood pressure, pulse (O₂ saturation), respiration rates, height, weight, food and fluid intake/output as directed. Report abnormal findings immediately to the primary nurse.
  • Obtain point-of-care blood glucose and report results to RN. Report abnormal findings immediately to responsible nurse.
  • Organize and stock patient rooms as needed and ensure each room is tidy and free of environmental hazards.
  • Complete secretarial duties under direction of professional nursing staff. Prepare charts for admissions, discharges, and transfers as needed.
  • Answer telephone and intercom calls and provide information or relay messages to nursing staff, patients and medical staff.
  • Perform clerical duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Required).
  • Six (6) months of Certified Nursing Assistant experience, secretary training OR equivalent combination of education and experience (Preferred).
  • Current BLS certification.
Compensation
  • $19.00 - $21.85 per hour, depending on education and experience.
  • Bonus: $3,000 (may be available).
