Job Overview
The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care of patients. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence‑based practice, and coordination of care with other health team members. As part of Intermountain’s internal travel agency, the RN supports multiple sites across our network, providing high‑quality, patient‑centered care.
Key Responsibilities- Assess the physical, psychological, and social status of patients, including developmental and cognitive abilities.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to direct and coordinate care.
- Develop individualized care plans based on assessment data and clinical judgment.
- Provide or delegate patient care in accordance with care plans, guidelines, and licensure.
- Prepare patients for discharge, including education, referrals, and follow‑up care.
- Evaluate patient responses and adapt interventions accordingly.
- Maintain compliance with legal and ethical standards and document care accurately.

- Post‑operative surgical care
Competitive pay in line with local and national travel RN rates. Pay rates are reviewed quarterly and adjusted based on market trends; each assignment will have a consistent pay rate. For assignments more than 50 miles from the employee’s home, pro‑rated monthly housing reimbursement will be provided. Employees are responsible for securing their own housing during each travel assignment.
Shift DetailsVariable shifts. Full‑time hours during a 3‑month assignment; 2–3 assignments per calendar year required. Pay rate: $58–$65/hour flat rate, based on location and specialty (adjusted quarterly).
Minimum Qualifications- 2 years of recent ICU or Med/Surg experience.
- Current RN license in the state of practice.
- Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
- Experience with travel assignments and ability to float to other units within the facility as needed.
- See and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors requiring verbal communication and rapid understanding of alarms, needs, and issues, especially during emergencies.
- Manual dexterity to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision, including frequent computer use and typing.
- Lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients; bend, lift, and carry supplies of varying weights, including heavy items.
- Walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and distributing supplies and equipment, including pushing/pulling gurneys, often navigating crowded and busy rooms.
- May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period.
