Job Description:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Psychiatric Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality mental health care as part of a consult liaison service. The Psychiatric Nurse will assess patients, respond to orders and referrals and monitor treatment progress. They will collaborate with psychiatrists, mental health professionals and interdisciplinary teams. This role requires strong clinical judgment, crisis intervention skills, and a commitment to supporting patient recovery and wellness.
Shift:Variable, part time.
ScopeAs a Home Health Intake Triage RN, you need to know how to:
- Ensure timely transition of referrals into admissions, identifying barriers and solving customer service and other issues through partnership with the team. Review, process and coordinate admissions serving as the clinical resource for the intake team.
- Perform and document primary triage and outreach services.
- Communicate effectively with accurate and appropriate information to the healthcare team regarding new referrals and clients Maintain a thorough knowledge of the agency products and services, acuity capabilities and referral relationships. Maintain an understanding of all payer sources and impact on revenue. Support and facilitate a growth culture and ensure the growth and profitability of the agency through the responsible use of company resources education to the community regarding our services.
- Demonstrate organizational, prioritization and actively participating in problem solving, be empowered to expedite decisions, explore and recommend options and follow-up on outstanding issues related to your work.
- Develop, implement, monitor, and ensure compliance with policy and procedures which support the aligned departmental and organizational goals and business objectives.
- Collaborate with staff to assure that services are provided at quality levels consistent with professional standards and goals. Perform assigned quality assurance duties.
- Provision nursing care per professional standards including assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and documenting the care provided in a prompt and accurate manner.
- Demonstrate team work, accountability, compassion and kindness with professionalism and customer service.
- Ensure protected health information is kept confidential.
- Report grievances and complaints made by clients, families, referral sources and other health care professionals. Report allegations of client abuse, neglect and/or misappropriation of client property.
Required:
Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing is required.
A Registered Nurse with an ASN/ADN degree must complete a BSN degree within four (4) years from the Registered Nurse’s date of hire unless the Registered Nurse has a minimum of fifteen (15) years of proven continuous Registered Nurse experience in an acute care setting. Failure to obtain a BSN degree within that time frame may result in suspension or termination of employment.
Any Registered Nurse who takes legally protected leave during the Four (4) year completion period may have the period extended by a comparable amount of time.
Registered Nurses employed by St Vincent, Good Samaritan, St. Joseph, or Lutheran Medical Centers as of September 1, 2014 with only an ASN/ADN will be exempt from this requirement. Registered Nurses employed by Holy Rosary, Platte Valley, St. Mary’s, Home Health, and TSFP as of December 31, 2017 with only an ASN/ADN will be exempt from this requirement.
Preferred Skills and Experience- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Minimum of 1–2 years of psychiatric, behavioral health, or mental health nursing experience preferred
- Knowledge of psychiatric disorders, psychotropic medications, and therapeutic interventions
- Experience conducting mental health assessments and risk evaluations
- Strong crisis de‑escalation and intervention skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary care teams
- BLS/CPR certification required;
Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing certification preferred. - Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems preferred
