Women Veterans Program Manager (WVPM) Registered Nurse (RN)

Responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care. Assesses the need for services for women Veterans and implements services for eligible women Veterans as well as to provide oversight to ensure that identified needs are met. Executes comprehensive planning for Women's Health (WH) issues that improves the overall quality of care provided to women Veterans and achieves program goals and outcomes.

Provides facility guidance regarding change implementations as directed by Veterans Affairs Central Office (VACO) while working across multiple service lines and disciplines. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates WH care based on age specific components. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Follows procedures per established policies and guidelines.

Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. Core elements of performance include knowledge and active participation in leading the program level quality improvement process and initiatives as well as customer service programs. Executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex client care. Demonstrates programmatic performance and leadership that is broad enough to impact the standard of care and safety of staff while caring for all women Veteran patients throughout the continuum of care. Demonstrates leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others. Evaluates practice in an ongoing process, based on best evidence. Provides peers with informal constructive feedback for improvement.

Fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of healthcare professionals. Contributes professional nursing perspective in discussions with the interdisciplinary team, conducting knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality nursing care. Partners with others to effect change and produce optimal outcomes. Shares educational findings, experiences, and ideas with peers. Questions clinical practices for the purpose of providing evidence-based care.

Participates in activities and strategies to sustain an evidence-based-practice culture. Evaluates outcomes of evidence-based decisions and practice changes for individuals, groups, and populations. The WVPM strategically plans, coordinates quality care, evaluates delivery of care including timeliness and outreaches to women Veterans needing services. Coordinates the provision of comprehensive health care services to women Veterans; plans for the establishment of new specialty or primary programs and the expansion of existing programs to meet the needs of women Veterans who are currently seeking care within the facility and the increasing number expected to do so;

ensure equity of access, service and benefits to women Veterans; coordinates the provision of state-of-the-art diagnostic, treatment, consultation and referral services within a comprehensive, integrated health care network; coordinates medical and/or surgical health care services and ensures psychological care of mental health needs, assesses the improved quality of clinical care; collects, develops, and analyzes data derived from these programs to assist in planning for women Veterans' services, and utilizes appropriate clinical indicators and monitoring activities to assure that the care provided is of the highest quality.
