DescriptionJob Title Donation Attendant
FLSA Status – Non-Exempt
Works directly with customers by accepting donated goods, storage and warehousing of these items and the dissemination of information for distribution.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provide excellent customer service at all times.
- Accepts and sorts donated goods by using racks, melons or pallets.
- Removes and discards trash from donated merchandise.
- Keeps records to include a Daily Log, Daily Status Report and Pickup Schedule.
- Maintains a safe, clean, and organized work area.
- Keeps the interior and exterior of the building free of trash and debris.
- Maintains the lawn and weeds by mowing and spraying these areas.
- Keeps the public and distribution areas clear of snow.
- Provides customers with receipts and all required corporate handouts.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Manager.
Knowledge, Skill and Ability
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to read and write in English.
- Ability to work independently.
- Able to use phone, fax and have some computer skills.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with customers and co-workers.
- Ability to organize one's work station.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to work a flexible and variable work schedule to meet the demands of the work environment.
- Customer service, retail or warehouse experience is desired but not required.
- Works inside and outside year round.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak, hear, stand and move throughout the location.
- Use upper body strength to frequently lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will occasionally be exposed to dust, hazardous waste, and insects from donations.
