ScheduleFriday – Sunday, 6:00 am to 6:30 pm. Weekend shift includes an 11.11% differential and a 3‑day workweek.
OverviewAs an Aircraft Paint Technician at West Star, you will help transform ordinary aircraft surfaces into outstanding final finishes. You will work on standard colors, stripes, and detailed artwork.
Responsibilities- Mask and tape aircraft parts to prevent overspray
- Sand primer and prep surfaces
- Blow and clean aircraft with thinner
- Wash the paint booth
- Apply all layers of paint, including the top coat
- Lay out stripe and design schemes
- Prep and scuff paint for trim application
- Re‑mask aircraft and perform detail work
- Inspect completed paint jobs for quality
- Mix and match paint colors
- Communicate effectively in spoken and written English
- Perform any other job‑related duties as assigned by supervisor or manager
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Vo‑tech training in paint or comparable on‑the‑job experience preferred
- Valid driver’s license (approved for airline travel) or valid passport desired
- Strong team orientation, self‑motivation, flexibility, and ability to work under deadlines
- Reliable transportation and willingness to work scheduled overtime and weekends
- Ability to perform work in accordance with FAA guidelines and company safety rules
- Customer‑oriented work habits and good communication skills
- Tech I – 0–2 years in aviation, auto, RV, marine, or related paint work. Requires close supervision.
- Tech II – 2–4 years in related field. Requires general supervision and instructions.
- Tech III – 4–6 years in related field. Requires limited supervision and may mentor junior technicians.
- Master Tech – 6+ years in aviation interiors. Acts as a subject‑matter expert.
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Routine walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and standing on ladders or scaffolds.
- Pass pulmonary physical and respiratory fit test (wear protective gear).
- Understand and implement OSHA, hazardous material, and other safety regulations.
- Work logically with mechanical processes and collaborate professionally with others.
Hourly rate ranges from $20–$28, with additional shift differential for alternate shifts. Compensation may vary based on location, experience, and performance.
