Job Overview

This role is responsible for implementing the pre-plea process for youth in the District Court, with the goal of reducing the Average Daily Population (ADP) for youths in detention by providing intensive case management, completing court reports, assessments, screening, and bed management.

Responsibilities
  • Complete required assessments, including the Colorado Youth Detention Screening Instrument (CYDSI), Arizona Risk-Needs Assessment (ARNA), Pre-screen Colorado Juvenile Risk Assessment (Pre-Screen CJRA), and enter data into TRAILS and SAVIO.
  • Prepare and submit required reports, such as detention hearing reports, pre-trial assessment forms, weekly updates on youth in detention beds, and Emergency Release plans; actively participate in ISST and Family Engagement Meetings and other placement and services review meetings.
  • Provide intensive case management and tracking: attend court hearings, link families with community services, document client contacts, facilitate or attend meetings related to court, school, employment, Department of Human Services, Probation, and other appointments; administer drug screenings; ensure youth comply with curfews.
  • Consult and inform parents about their child’s status in the judicial system, facilitating their involvement and navigation within the process.
  • Maintain professional working relationships with community agencies, collaborate to support the best interests of the child, and demonstrate knowledge of inter-agency collaboration, mandates, and procedures.
  • Maintain professional conduct, appropriate dress, and language in all interactions with agencies or individuals involved with the juvenile.
  • Maintain and protect client confidentiality.
  • Manage caseload to meet deadlines and provide effective case management.
  • Provide on-call screening for law enforcement agencies, including scheduled nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis (alternating weekly daytime on-call 8 a.m.

    -5 p.m. and evening on-call 5 p.m.

    -8 a.m.; weekend on-call may begin Friday evening at 5 p.m. through Monday at 8 a.m.).
Qualifications
  • Four (4) years of related experience in case management, with at least two years in juvenile justice, human services, or a related field; education may replace up to two years of experience.
  • Driver’s license.
  • Preferred: CPR/First Aid Certificate, Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training, bilingual Spanish fluency (provides $1.00 / hr differential).
  • Background checks: sex-offender registry, driving record, Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General exclusion list, DYS fingerprints and TRAILS, DYS disclosure, DYS required drug testing, VECHS/Non-Facility Fingerprint Card, Non-Facility TRAILS (Child Abuse Registry), and any other required vaccinations.
