Highway Maintenance Specialist - Grand Junction - Traffic​/MTC Hybrid; CDL

Total annual compensation for this position is $53,940 ($53,940 base pay).

Base pay for this position is $2,074.62 biweekly ($53,940–54,000 annually). There are 26 biweekly pay periods in a year. The annualized hourly rate for this position is $25.93/hour, with an overtime rate of $38.90/hour.

This position will report to the Traffic Unit in Grand Junction during the summer months and will report to Rifle, CO during the winter.

While working on the traffic crew this position will have regular travel throughout northwestern Colorado. This position will work in Traffic Operations, installing, maintaining and removing pavement markings and signage along the State highway and roadway system. The anticipated work schedule from April through October is 10‑hour days, 4 days per week with frequent out‑of‑town travel throughout the Region from Monday through Thursday each week.

Some Fridays may also be worked during the season to make up for work missed due to bad weather.

This position requires an upgrade to a CDL Class A within 18 months after appointment to the position, the training for the CDL A will be provided.

No two days are exactly the same in CDOT highway maintenance. Your daily work activities change based on project needs and also vary based on weather, environment, and road conditions. You will be on‑call on a rotating basis as well as subject to call to respond to weather and other emergencies. You will typically work in a team environment, as each maintenance patrol location has at least one lead highway maintenance specialist and multiple highway maintenance specialists.
