Facilities Project Specialist (Temporary)
LocationGrand Prairie, TX
OverviewThis role will guide enterprise efforts for the company's mechanical, electrical, or plumbing (MEP) projects and other facilities construction projects. The specialist will coordinate proponent groups and building committees to facilitate rational facility planning, budgeting, and scheduling, manage facilities capital expenditure budgets, and maintain high client and user satisfaction while recommending initiatives to improve service delivery in terms of cost, schedule, and quality.
ResponsibilitiesProject coordination with proponent groups and building committees (35%)
- Coordinate with all stakeholders—proponent groups, engineers, contractors, property owners, and building committees—to facilitate planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
- Maintain high client, customer, and user satisfaction with services provided.
- Support the company Health & Safety program initiatives and ensure compliance to all assigned tasks.
- Ensure effective and timely written and oral communication with consultants and internal customers during all phases of design and construction.
- Review and analyze project controls, including schedule and cost indexes and variances.
- Perform daily quality assurance inspections and review submittals, requests for information, change requests, and designs for adherence to project baseline documents.
- Recommend and manage initiatives to improve service delivery for cost, quality, scope, and schedule.
- Ensure adherence to contract, business management, and procurement requirements across the Workplace organization.
- Monitor and report on all phases of planning and construction to confirm activities align with objectives.
- Prepare requests for proposals and conduct meetings to facilitate hiring of architectural and construction management services.
- Prepare Statements of Work that describe projects and desired outcomes.
- Write and evaluate proposals and quotes to select vendors based on cost, quality, scope, and schedule.
- Prepare, submit, and manage facility capitalized expenditure budgets and projects, track variances, and ensure smooth recovery processes.
- Partner with Workplace project resources for leasehold acquisition, build‑outs, renovations, and expansions while limiting business disruption.
- Prepare project reports and control expenditures per budget allocations.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Facilities Construction/Project Management/Engineering or related field.
- 1 year in maintenance or construction of sizable civil/structural or MEP projects.
- 2 years in Facilities or Construction project management as a project manager, assistant project manager, or project controls specialist.
- State‑issued driver's license.
- Up to 5% domestic travel.
- US Person under ITAR definition (U.S. citizen, green card holder or person covered under our existing ITAR license).
- Working knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, and ADA standards.
- Current knowledge of IBC, industry trends, best practices, and technology.
- Ability to read blueprints and construction drawings and experience with significant construction/renovation projects.
- Ability to lead and motivate a diverse workforce.
- Ability to work without direct supervision/self‑motivator.
- Effective verbal and written communication in English.
- Ability to write detailed reports explaining project status.
- Highly proficient in general office software systems, either Google Workspace or Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with Microsoft Project or similar Project Management software.
- Master's Degree or equivalent experience in Facilities Construction/Project Management/Engineering or related field.
- 5 years in Facilities or Construction project management.
- 3 years as a field construction engineer or building design engineer, or 3 years as a tradesperson or supervisor of a trade (electrical, plumbing, mechanical, or building construction).
- PMP Certification.
