General

Summary

The Water Truck Driver operates company equipment to support construction and aggregate operations through dust control, road maintenance, and water distribution. This role requires a strong safety focus, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with field crews.

Essential Job Accountabilities
  • Drives truck to destination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and area roads.
  • Prepares receipts for load picked up.
  • Collects payment for goods delivered and for delivery charges.
  • May maintain truck log, according to state and federal regulations.
  • May maintain telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.
  • May load and unload truck.
  • May inspect truck equipment and supplies, such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.
  • May perform emergency roadside repairs, such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains, and spark plugs.
  • May position blocks and tie rope around items to secure cargo during transit.
Education

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.

Certification

Class A CDL with Tanker endorsement required.

Work Experience

5+ yrs. experience.

Skills and Abilities
  • Read and interpret road maps
  • Practice good safety habits
  • Work in dusty or dirty surroundings
  • Follow instructions and meet set standards for hauling and scheduling
  • Judge distances and weights accurately
  • Make decisions based on verifiable standards.
Physically, workers must be able to:
  • Stoop, bend, and crouch
  • Use hands, arms, and legs fully
  • See well (either naturally or with correction)
  • Lift up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
