Coach, Alpha - $100,000​/year USD

Calling it complete when a student reaches 99% of their weekly target may feel compassionate, but the most meaningful support you can offer is holding the line. Not out of indifference—because you know they can finish, and accepting less is the true setback.

This role is not about traditional teaching. Alpha students engage with academic content through AI-driven adaptive learning platforms. There are no lectures, no textbooks, and no whiteboards. What schools typically relegate to the sidelines—motivation and life skills—is your entire focus.

Consider a typical Tuesday. You spend half your time facilitating one‑hour workshops for a K-8 group, covering topics like public speaking, sustained focus, and constructive feedback exchange. The other half is dedicated to individual and small‑group sessions with the same students, reviewing Coachbot analytics and guiding each one toward 100% completion of their weekly learning goals. You'll leverage school currency, leaderboards, and the trust you've cultivated to overcome reluctance.

Success in this role is measured by three metrics: all students in your cohort meet their weekly app targets, all students pass the Test2

Pass mastery check for every workshop, and at least 90% report that they love working with you. Fall short on any one, and you've missed the mark.

The reward comes when a student who insisted in September that math wasn't for them asks you to set a higher goal.

This is a full‑time, on‑site position located at an Alpha campus. Because we recruit across the country, job postings may appear in cities where we do not yet operate a campus.

If you have experience coaching youth sports, leading a camp cabin, or tutoring a student who was ready to quit, your final step before an offer is spending a full day on campus coaching actual Alpha students.

• Facilitating one‑hour life‑skills workshops with K‑8 cohorts, addressing public speaking, focus, and the exchange of constructive feedback
• Conducting daily one‑on‑one and small‑group coaching sessions to ensure every student reaches 100% of their weekly app goals, drawing on Coachbot analytics and Alpha's motivation tools (leaderboards, school currency)

  Pass mastery assessment for each skill area, then continuing to coach students who do not pass until mastery is achieved
• Modifying the workshop curriculum and creating new sessions as needed, ensuring content resonates equally with kindergarteners and eighth graders
• Serving as the adult who upholds the standard and the one your students trust and seek out

• Teaching at a whiteboard, developing math or reading lesson plans, or grading assignments; the apps handle academic instruction
• Conducting standardized test preparation or being held accountable for class‑wide test results
• Managing parent conferences, emails, or concerns; campus leadership handles all parent communication
• Controlling large groups of 30 students; cohorts are intentionally small, and behavior support is one‑on‑one
• Monitoring students passively at computers; your motivation work is hands‑on and relational

• Minimum 3 years of direct experience working with K‑8 (elementary and middle school) students: teaching, tutoring, coaching athletics, leading camp programs, or youth program facilitation
