Components Engineer - Location : Dallas, TX
- Duration : 12 months
Overview:
This role supports the end-to-end lifecycle of electronic systems-from design and development to manufacturing and sustainment. The candidate will resolve design and component-related issues, manage obsolescence, and work cross-functionally to ensure product quality and continuity in production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to project success by resolving:
- Conflicting design requirements
- Unsuitability of standard materials
- Complex coordination challenges
- Plan and conduct:
- Design reviews
- Analysis, inspection, and testing
- System/component integration
- Quality assurance activities
- Perform quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with:
- Stated requirements
- Vendor quality manuals
- Company quality standards
- Apply Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods to evaluate component acceptability based on data analysis.
- Accept a broad range of assignments supporting:
- Capture, design, development, testing
- Manufacturing and lifecycle support of electronic systems
- Manage detailed part-level obsolescence efforts:
- Monitor Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Identify and resolve obsolescence issues
- Schedule and manage fixes and implementation
- Source alternative components to avoid production delays
- Collaborate with:
- Design engineers and cross-functional teams
- Vendors and external suppliers
- Enforce PMPCP compliance (Parts, Materials, and Processes Control Plan)
- Deliver periodic presentations to program management and customers.
- Must be willing to travel to customer and supplier sites as needed.
- Education:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical field
- Experience:
- 5+ years in Component Engineering
- 5+ years in Obsolescence Mitigation
- 5+ years with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools (e.g., Windchill, Agile PLM)
- 5+ years communicating with manufacturers and component suppliers
