GNC System Engineer - Early Career - Dallas, TX

Job Overview

We are seeking a Guidance and Control (GNC) Engineer to support missile system and fire control system design, development, integration, and test at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control (MFC) in the Guidance, Navigation and Control career area.

• Design, develop, and deploy embedded algorithms that perform inertial tracking, inertial navigation, sensor fusion, flight control, and/or guidance.
• Evaluate system performance in complex scenarios and environments and verify system and subsystem level requirements.
• Perform critical studies, analyses, and test activities that support ground and flight test efforts, including Hardware-In-The-Loop (HWIL) activities.
• Collaborate with small teams of engineers and algorithm developers on various programs at different product‑development stages.
• Support program reviews and technical interchange meetings with internal leadership and/or external customers.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, computer science, applied mathematics, or similar STEM degree.
• US Citizen; position requires a government security clearance; facility requires special access.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
• Familiarity in software development environments like Git and programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, C++, FORTRAN, or Ada.
• Solid foundation in linear algebra, dynamics, coordinate frame transformations, and state estimation techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to perform one or more of the following GNC or Modeling/Simulation assignments based on coursework or experience: guidance algorithm development, autopilot development, inertial tracking algorithm development, servo controller development, 6
  
  DOF vehicle model and simulation development.

• Experience using a Linux-based operating system.
• Familiarity with linear algebra, probability and statistics, state dynamic equations, Kalman filter applications, kinematics and rotating coordinate systems.
• Experience integrating and testing hardware and software in HWIL.
• Prior experience supporting flight tests.
• Ability to travel up to two weeks to White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico.
• Experience with different simulation and test environments (6-DOF IFS, HWIL, flight test experience).

Position requires a government security clearance; candidate must be a US Citizen. Clearance level:
Secret with Investigation or CV date within 5 years.

Onsite full‑time at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work schedule:

4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week.
