Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline (preferably in Material Science, Electrical Engineering or Materials Engineering), or equivalent experience/combined education
- Familiarity and a strong background in the materials and processes associated with electronics assemblies, cable and wire harness assemblies, material manufacturing processes, material testing processes and procedures
- Candidate must have the ability to travel and be willing to work off‑sight as needed for assignments
You will be the Materials & Processes Engineer for the Advanced Structures & Systems team. Our team pioneers the development and implementation of cutting‑edge materials, surface treatments, and fabrication processes that enable high performance aerospace structures across major production programs.
What You Will Be DoingAs the Materials & Processes Engineer you will be responsible for driving material through production. You’ll apply chemistry, physics, and material behavior expertise to create robust specifications, fabrication methods, and assembly processes while partnering closely with product development, analysis, and production operations.
Your Responsibilities Will Include- Optimizing materials and surface treatment solutions for engineering applications
- Performing failure analyses, life‑prediction modeling, and material property evaluation to support reliability goals
- Authoring clear technical documentation and contributing data packages for design reviews and customer deliverables
- Collaborating with cross‑functional teams—including product development, engineering analysis groups, and production—to translate requirements into manufacturable solutions
- Reviewing engineering drawings and related documentation using Windchill and other PLM tools
- Supporting test planning, execution, and results interpretation to validate material performance
- Mentoring junior engineers and sharing best practices across the organization
- Experience with materials and processes associated with electronics assemblies, EEE parts, cable and wire harness assemblies and components
- Experience working with full assemblies as well as subassemblies, down to component level
- Experience supporting failure review boards and working toward corrective action
- Familiarity with evaluating and developing material and specifications
- Demonstrated exceptional interpersonal skills
- Capability to perform in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment and team environment
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills for generating M&P support documentation, material plans, material and process reports, and potential proposals
- Familiarity with reading and interpreting blueprints, machine drawings, 2‑D drawings, CAD drawings and material callouts or material processing notes
Part‑time Remote Telework:
The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
This position is in Grand Prairie, TX.
Citizenship and Security ClearanceMUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN – This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
