Description

Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control (MFC) is seeking a Senior RF Engineer to join our growing engineering team. MFC is a recognized designer, developer, and manufacturer of precision engagement aerospace and defense systems for the U.S. and allied militaries. You Will Be Doing

Non Kinetic Air Defense (NKAD) and Counter Swarm team is looking for a multidisciplined RF Design Engineer to join a growing team responsible for design, prototype, test and rapid fielding of solutions within highly accelerated timelines for all services.

Seeking someone with experience with fast‑paced programs and familiar with rapid hardware development to support design tasks that will include electrical and mechanical design principles, troubleshooting systems, specifying/procuring/organizing build materials, among other responsibilities.

The Senior RF Engineer will serve as a key technical contributor on one or more defense programs, supporting the design, development, analysis, and test of advanced RF systems and subsystems.

Responsibilities
  • Leading and contributing to the design, development, and implementation of high power microwave (HPM) RF based systems
  • Conducting RF simulation analysis, antenna test data analysis, and captive flight test performance data analysis to evaluate sensor and system performance
  • Performing RF requirements analyses, executing trade studies, and providing data‑driven recommendations during design reviews
  • Rapid testing and troubleshooting to ensure robust design principles around Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E³)
  • Defining and shaping program requirements using E³ design guidelines and industry best practices
  • Leading the planning, setup, and execution of test events in accordance with MIL STD 461/464, including selection of instrumentation and creation of test fixtures
  • Collaborating with cross‑functional and multi‑company teams, interfacing with suppliers, partners, and customers to balance competing priorities
  • Supporting environmental qualification testing (vibration, shock, thermal, radiation) and analyzing results
  • Generating and maintaining technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, requirements packages, and trade study reports

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related STEM field from an accredited university;
    Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in RF engineering or a related discipline
  • RF design experience with a background in electromagnetic theory, modeling, and practical design support
  • Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • High Power Microwave (HPM) or similar high power RF applications
    • High Voltage Pulsed Power or similar RF applications
    • RF or microwave circuit design, test, and troubleshooting at the CCA level
    • Experience developing and designing for Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E³) for High Power Microwave (HPM) applications
    • Understanding of signal integrity, shielding, and bonding design principles
  • Understanding of antenna theory and RF architectures
  • Must be a US Citizen; must possess or be able to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance
Desired Skills
  • Experience with RF systems including radars, jammers, and high power microwave (HPM)
  • Experience designing, developing, or integrating components for UAV/UAS systems
  • Experience with rapid prototyping and spiral development design
