You will be the Mechanical Design Engineer for the GMLRS Development Team. Our team drives the design, build, and test of the Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS) missiles and launch pods, delivering new rocket configurations and supporting supplier development across the program.
What You Will Be DoingAs the Mechanical Design Engineer you will be responsible for creating and releasing component and assembly drawings, drafting Instructional Change Notices (ICNs), and coordinating hardware development from concept through flight testing. You’ll work side by side with cross functional partners, the Camden manufacturing group, and external suppliers to ensure designs meet schedule, performance, and safety targets.
- Generate and release 2D/3D mechanical drawings for new rocket parts and assemblies.
- Author and manage Instructional Change Notices for development builds.
- Participate in weekly Integrated Product Team (IPT) meetings and milestone reviews, including Critical Design Reviews (CDRs).
- Collaborate with Stress Analysis, Materials & Processes, Test, Production, and senior Mechanical Engineers to resolve design issues.
- Support supplier development activities, conduct root cause analyses, and drive corrective action plans.
- Travel monthly to MFC production sites in Camden, AR;
Huntsville, AL; and various supplier locations across the United States. - Maintain or quickly obtain MRBE authority to certify mechanical releases.
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in an Engineering-related field.
- Active Development of new mechanical design engineering principles and full demonstrated knowledge of industry practices and related disciplines.
- Strong performance in a small team environment.
- Experience with production change processes (Notice of Changes, Notice of Revisions, ECPs, Change Requests, Change Notices, etc.) preferred.
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) in accordance with ASME Y14.5 and ability to perform complex system level tolerance analysis.
- Minimum 5 years experience with Creo or similar 3D computer aided design software creating parts, assemblies and drawings.
- Experience with Design Validation & or Qualification Testing.
- Past strong technical performance as an individual contributor.
- Experience evaluating SDRLs (Supplier Document Requirements List) preferred.
- Demonstrated success assisting/managing component supplier development and processing.
- Experience working in a Production environment preferred.
- Hands‑on experience with machining, rapid prototyping, or lab equipment (CNC, 3D printing, test setups).
- Experience in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience in Model-Based Definition (MBD).
- Experience with aerospace hardware such as structures, energetics, propulsion, or flight control systems.
- Comprehensive understanding of aerospace systems lifecycle from proposal & capture efforts, development, transition to production, production and sustainment.
- Experience with Aprizo.
- BOE writing experience.
- CAM experience.
This position is in Grand Prairie, TX.
Security ClearanceMUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN. This position requires a secret clearance. A company-sponsored Interim Secret is required to start.
