System Safety Engineer (SSE) – Senior
You will be the System Safety Engineer (SSE) Sr for the Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control team, responsible for ensuring the safety of products developed and sold to customers, with a focus on protecting the warfighter.
What You Will Be DoingAs the System Safety Engineer (SSE) Sr, you will be responsible for performing hazard analyses and recommending safety features to mitigate or eliminate hazards in system design, software, training, and procedures. You will work independently to develop and implement system safety programs, with a focus on supporting the Integrated Air and Missile Defense Program Area.
- Developing hazard analyses and safety assessments
- Analyzing and recommending safety criteria in system design and procedures
- Preparing and delivering technical presentations and documentation
- Coordinating and leading System Safety Working Group meetings
- Reviewing specifications and design changes for adverse impacts to system safety
- Participating in accident investigations and identifying corrective actions
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in an engineering discipline
- Experience developing and implementing a System Safety Program IAW MIL-STD-882
- Developing and evaluating system safety requirements
- Familiarity with implementing a Software Safety Program IAW AOP-52 and DoD guidelines
- Working knowledge of MIL-STD-882 and its associated analyses
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to make formal presentations to large groups
- Interacts well in a team atmosphere with engineers, suppliers, program managers and customers
- Experience supporting independent government Safety Review Boards
- Knowledge of Human Factors Engineering
- Familiarity with missile and launcher systems
- Model-based engineering knowledge
- Experience with DOORS requirements application
- Candidate should be a self-starter capable of performing tasks with little direction
- Effective analytical problem solving skills, the ability to perform detail-oriented work with a high degree of accuracy
- Able to learn and work with System Safety specific software tools

- Work schedule:
4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
This position is in Dallas, Texas.
Security ClearanceMUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN. This position is located at a facility that requires special access and the selected candidate must obtain a secret clearance.
Clearance Level: Secret.
