Position: Full Time IT Applications Administrator

IT Applications Administrator – Role Summary

Join us as an IT Applications Administrator! The IT Applications Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining business-specific enterprise applications. The application administrator works closely with management, subject matter experts and users to integrate and enhance business workflow processes. This requires performing specialized, advanced, and complex support and troubleshooting to manage the deployment, configuration, and usage of enterprise and/or third‑party applications to support the City’s goals.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations, support and administration of the city’s core enterprise applications including upgrades, software patches, system configuration, troubleshooting, testing, and daily monitoring.
  • Works closely with department managers and application users to lead implementation and redesign of business workflow processes to enhance application productivity by employing tools such as scripting, automations, reporting and workflow development.
  • Proactively monitor developments in vendor application releases and roadmaps to prioritize and plan upgrades and enhance application features.
  • Works closely with department managers and application users to identify, document and/or recommend enhancements to or procurement of business applications.
  • Plans, coordinates and tests upgrades and new services according to best practices to ensure business operations will operate correctly in current and future environments and communicate with IT and clients to ensure changes meet with expectations.
  • Participates in the evaluation and selection process for application packages. Collects requirements and performs analysis on 3rd party solutions for internal business processes.
  • Collaborates and facilitates meetings with key business partners or teams to coordinate information regarding software functionality changes or improvements to identify, simplify and support efforts to raise the level of effectiveness and organizational performance of assigned enterprise software solution(s).
  • Builds positive and constructive relationships with IT and other business area customers to understand their needs or problems and provide timely communication and service to ensure application functionality meets the needs of individuals or customers.
  • Performs regular system auditing tasks including daily log monitoring, regular system patch reviews and system alert message reviews.
  • Provides customer support and assists in working with internal IT teams and technology vendors to ensure all systems are available and secure on a 24‑by‑7 basis.
  • Develops and updates technical and/or user documentation of systems, processes, troubleshooting steps, etc. while following change management and change control processes to plan and deploy system changes.
  • Interacts with all IT divisions to assist in resolving problems with software products or systems.
  • Serves as a liaison between the city and the software vendor and manages the successful resolution of support cases with the vendor.
  • Other related duties as assigned by supervisor/manager within the department.
  • Regular and consistent attendance and punctuality for the assigned work hours is essential.
Requirements
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s in related field of Information Technology or the equivalent in experience.
  • Experience:

    3–5 years’ experience. Two (2) years of experience in IT Service Management, Application Lifecycle Management, and application testing. Basic understanding of server-client network environment and Active Directory.
  • Licenses:
    Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Certifications required: ITIL certification or ability to certify within 6 months of hire.
