Overview
Position Purpose
The purpose of the Inventory Control Manager is to ensure inventory accuracy, integrity, and operational excellence across the contract logistics warehouse operations in order to consistently meet or exceed client expectations. This role exists to proactively identify and resolve challenges, safeguard system and physical inventory accuracy, and deliver cost-effective, compliant, and efficient inventory solutions that support seamless domestic and international logistics services.
The Inventory Control Manager leads with a service-first mindset—responding quickly to issues, executing responsibilities with precision and accountability, and fostering strong working relationships with clients and cross-functional teams. Through data-driven analysis, process optimization, and collaborative leadership, this position strengthens inventory visibility, minimizes risk and shrinkage, enhances financial performance, and reinforces a culture of teamwork, accuracy, and proactive problem-solving across the organization.
Responsibilities- Oversee daily inventory control operations across multiple warehouses and distribution facilities.
- Ensure real-time accuracy of inventory records within WMS, TMS, and ERP systems.
- Develop and maintain cycle count programs, annual physical inventory processes, and reconciliation procedures.
- Investigate discrepancies, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor inventory aging, slow-moving, damaged, and obsolete stock to minimize write-offs.
- Ensure inventory traceability across domestic and international freight movements.
- Direct daily inventory control activities, including cycle counts, reconciliations, and physical inventories.
- Ensure compliance with import/export regulations and bonded inventory controls.
- Coordinate inventory tracking across inbound, outbound, and international freight movements.
- Design and implement operational solutions related to inventory optimization, network flow, and capacity utilization.
- Analyze inventory data, transportation patterns, and warehouse performance metrics.
- Develop contract logistics metrics, internal dashboards, and key performance indicators.
- Conduct operational studies, including variance analysis, zero-base reviews, and process mapping.
- Collaborate with freight forwarding teams to ensure accurate inventory tracking for inbound and outbound international shipments.
- Ensure compliance with import/export documentation and inventory reporting requirements.
- Partner with customs and operations teams to maintain accurate bonded and non-bonded inventory records.
- Support cross-docking, consolidation, and transloading operations with accurate inventory visibility.
- Leverage data analytics and KPIs to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support system upgrades, integrations, and automation initiatives within WMS/ERP platforms.
- Lead inventory-related audits and compliance initiatives.
- Develop, implement, and maintain inventory control SOPs and internal audit procedures.
- Implement system improvements within WMS, ERP, and TMS platforms.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce shrinkage and improve accuracy rates.
- Optimize warehouse layout, space utilization, and materials flow processes.
- Monitor inventory accuracy rates, shrinkage, turnover, carrying costs, and service level metrics.
- Support customer Accounting/Finance teams to support monthly close, accruals, and inventory valuation processes.
- Prepare and present inventory performance reports to CL leadership.
- Support budgeting and forecasting related to availability and storage capacity.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, regulatory requirements, and safety standards.
- Lead, train, and mentor inventory control and warehouse teams.
- Establish performance standards and accountability measures.
- Promote a culture of accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence.
- Supervise inventory personnel and coordinate with cross-functional contract logistics teams.
