PPG's Aerospace Business is looking for a Calibration Technician to join our team in Grand Prairie, TX. As a Calibration Lab Technician, you will ensure the accuracy and reliability of all Monitoring and Measuring Equipment (M&TE) used in the facility. You will play a critical role in maintaining AS9100 compliance by ensuring measurement traceability to national or international standards (e.g., NIST) and supporting the company's Quality Management System (QMS).
In this role you will work onsite in Grand Prairie, TX and report to the Senior Aerospace Production Quality Manager.
Key Responsibilities- Perform scheduled and ad hoc calibrations on mechanical, dimensional, electrical, and thermal instruments according to internal procedures and manufacturer specifications.
- Maintain the master calibration register, ensuring every tool is uniquely identified and its status is clearly labeled.
- Ensure all calibrations are traceable to NIST or equivalent international standards.
- Identify OOT conditions, initiate formal investigations, and support root cause analysis to determine the impact on previously manufactured products.
- Generate and maintain detailed calibration certificates and records, ensuring they are audit-ready at all times.
- Coordinate with external ISO 17025 accredited labs for specialized equipment that cannot be calibrated internally.
- Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on measurement standards and laboratory equipment.
- Only U.S. Citizens, Green Card holders, and political asylees or refugees are eligible to apply. Candidates must have or be eligible to obtain secret clearance.
- High School Diploma or GED required; an Associate degree in Electronics, Metrology, or a related technical field is preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in a calibration or metrology role, ideally within an aerospace, defense, or high-precision manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, or ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
- Experience with different calibration categories including Temperature, Pressure, Mechanical, Humidity, etc.
- ASQ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) or military PMEL/TMDE training preferred.
- Experience with calibration software (e.g., Gage List, Indy Soft, or Met Cal) preferred.
- Understanding of Measurement Uncertainty and Test Uncertainty Ratios (TUR).
