What You Will Do
Leads workers engaged in layout and machine operating, inspection, welding or material preparation/finishing of aircraft components by performing the following duties:
- Manages production flow, productivity, reliability, and costs.
- Oversees activities such as plasma, cathodic arc, and other processes on a variety of aircraft components.
- Chief supporter in the cell for continuous improvement and all CORE initiatives.
- Chief supporter in the cell for all EH&S initiatives.
- May serve as supervisor in the absence of the Business Unit Manager.
- Trains employees in the performance of tasks related to their area of expertise.
- Sets production schedules, tracks work in process, troubleshoots and solves problems associated with production.
- Sets work schedules, schedules work duties and overtime.
- Evaluates employee performance and addresses employee discipline.
- Aids in interpreting specifications, blueprints, and job orders for workers, and assists in assigning duties.
- Ensures compliance with all relevant work instructions (SOI’s, DOI’s, OPM’s, etc.).
- Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
- Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
- Strives for turnaround time improvement and 100% on-time delivery.
- Ensures company policies and procedures are complied with and understood.
- Holds monthly toolbox meetings.
- Maintains a clean and organized cell.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
- Other duties may be assigned.
You Must Have: HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g., G.E.D. in the US) with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- More than two (2) years of working experience plus a demonstrated ability to effectively supervise co-workers.
- Previous experience in a FAA repair station desired.
- Previous experience leading skilled craftsmen in a production or refurbishing environment.
- Previous experience using SAP and Solumina.
- A & P license or eligibility for a FAA repairman’s certificate is a plus.
