Controlled Substance Clerk, Receiving

Position Summary

Under direct supervision and working within a cage or secured area, a Controlled Substance Receiving Clerk is responsible for performing a variety of tasks that facilitate the physical movement of shipments into or out of the facility on behalf of a retailer or manufacturer. The Clerk position requires high attention to detail and ability to read, understand and follow standard operating procedures specific to this position.

• Work on the receiving dock for the facility.
• Unload trucks by hand and with a manual pallet jack.
• Scan inbound boxes or packages into the system using RF equipment or a computer terminal.
• Follow instructions for handling any discrepancies noted.
• Always maintain a clean and orderly workstation and area.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Comply with all policies and standards.

Regularly use hands to handle objects; reach with hands or arms; talk or hear and read instructions; stand, kneel, or stoop and lift 20 pounds; view items at a close range; and perform those activities throughout the work shift, often for more than 75% of the time.

Adaptability, curiosity, communication, personal credibility, and teamwork.

• High School Diploma (or equivalent) required.
• 1–3 years experience in a warehouse or production job, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Ability to follow standard operation and safety procedures.
• Capability to work in an environment that is not climate controlled.
• Ability to push a cart or hand truck up to 100 yards and use a pallet jack.
• Ability to work under time pressure, meet production goals, and work more than 8 hours per day, including overtime as needed.
• Ability to handle hazardous waste materials with appropriate safety measures.
