Tentamus North America is looking for a Media Technician to join our Analytical Food Laboratories Team in Grand Prairie, Texas.
Key ResponsibilitiesUnder the direction of the Microbiology Managers, you will follow all policies, procedures, and SOPs to prepare media and reagents for microbiology testing, ensuring accuracy in formulation, sterility, QC verification, and documentation, while meeting laboratory demand schedules.
- Maintain accurate, legible, and traceable records (GDP), including:
- Daily balance verification
- Vial filler/dispenser standardization
- Media batch production and QC testing
- Autoclave cycles and sterility verification
- Temperature monitoring (loggers, records)
- Water quality (conductivity, residual chlorine)
- pH meter validation
- Detergent residue testing
- Opening/closing logs
- Reagent production logs and labels
- Media discard documentation
- Personal attendance/timecard swipes
- Ensure water supply for media preparation by monitoring the deionized water system and requesting replacement tanks as needed.
- Operate equipment safely and according to instructions, reporting any malfunctions, accidents, or safety concerns to lab management.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of media and supplies, and request replenishment in a timely manner.
- Clean and maintain glassware, plasticware, and equipment used in media production.
- Autoclave and dispose of biohazardous waste generated by the Microbiology Department in compliance with safety standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Full Time, 40 hours | Shift: Saturday-Wednesday, 11:00AM-08:00PM | 1 hour unpaid lunch
QualificationsOur ideal candidate will be authorized to work in the United States without restriction or sponsorship, hold a high school diploma and/or an AS/BS degree in Microbiology, Biology, Food Science or a related science field is a plus; experience in a laboratory or science environment is preferred. Other qualifications include:
- Ability to accurately and legibly record data
- Possess strong attention to detail
- Ability to memorize different testing types, Media, Dilutions, SOPs, etc.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and stand for long periods; to work independently and within a team.
