The NDT Inspector is responsible for performing Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) on aircraft wheel and brake components for commercial airline and military applications. This role involves multiple inspection methods including Eddy Current (ET), Fluorescent Magnetic Particle (MT), Fluorescent Liquid Penetrant (PT), and Ultrasonic Testing (UT) to ensure the highest standards of safety, quality, and reliability.
Responsibilities- Perform non‑destructive testing on aircraft wheel and brake components to detect cracks, defects, and discontinuities with limited supervision.
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections on sub‑components.
- Perform cup changes, chemical treatments, and shot peening as required.
- Set up, calibrate, and operate NDT equipment in accordance with established procedures and specifications.
- Follow approved inspection techniques, processes, and work instructions.
- Perform process control checks and maintain inspection accuracy.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on NDT equipment as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation, inspection records, and part traceability.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support lean manufacturing practices.
- Adhere to all safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
- Support additional Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) activities as assigned.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively across departments and within a team environment.
- Excellent organizational and problem‑solving skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of NDT experience required; two (2) years in an inspection environment preferred.
- Current or previous certification in accordance with NAS‑410 as a Level II in at least one method: ET, MT, or PT preferred.
- Experience in aircraft wheel and brake inspection or maintenance is a plus, but not required.
- Documented On‑the‑Job Training (OJT) hours are required for each applicable NDT method.
- Formal classroom training certificates must be provided in accordance with NAS‑410 requirements.
- Ability to obtain and maintain company‑specific NDT certification is required.
