Journeyman Lineman
North Star Energy Solutions is hiring! The Journeyman Lineman is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of energized transmission lines. This role requires working with high-voltage systems to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of electricity across various locations. The Journeyman Lineman must have extensive knowledge of electrical systems, adhere to safety regulations, and be prepared to work in challenging outdoor conditions, often responding to outages and emergency situations.
This position plays a critical role in maintaining and restoring the power grid.
Safely construct, maintain, and repair 69kV–500kV transmission lines, structures, and associated hardware
Climb poles and towers, operate bucket trucks and digger derricks, and perform work at elevated heights
Install and sag conductor, string wire, and work with hot sticks and live-line tools when required
Operate heavy equipment (e.g., line trucks, pullers, tensioners, cranes) under strict safety procedures
Interpret transmission plans, job specifications, work orders, and engineered drawings
Coordinate closely with crew foremen, site supervisors, and safety personnel on work sequencing and job hazard analyses (JHAs)
Conduct pre-task tailboards and participate in site safety meetings and audits
Maintain accurate records of time, materials, and safety documentation in compliance with company and client requirements
Support storm restoration and emergency response efforts as needed across Texas and surrounding regions
Completion of an accredited Journeyman Lineman apprenticeship program (preferred)
Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and a clean driving record
Thorough knowledge of electrical theory and practices as well as safety regulations and practices
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work well in a team environment
Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces and to lift up to 75 pounds
Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to maintain positive customer relationships
Availability to work overtime and respond to emergency situations
Willingness for Barehand/Live Line Training as well as Helicopter Training
