Overview
Polk Mechanical is seeking a Sheet Metal Journeyman responsible for fabricating, assembling, installing, and repairing sheet metal products and HVAC systems. This role requires strong technical skills, the ability to read and interpret blueprints, and hands-on experience with fabrication and installation of ductwork and related equipment.
Responsibilities- Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products and HVAC duct systems
- Operate fabricating machines such as shears, brakes, bending rolls, and punch presses
- Cut, bend, and shape sheet metal to specifications
- Use hand tools, power tools, air hammers, and welding equipment to assemble ductwork and components
- Install ductwork and sheet metal assemblies according to blueprints and specifications
- Install HVAC components such as air handlers, heat pumps, exhaust fans, and unit heaters
- Inspect and test installations to ensure conformance with project requirements
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Minimum of 4 years of verifiable sheet metal experience required
- Experience working in commercial or industrial HVAC environments
- Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication and installation practices
- Trade certifications preferred
- Valid driver's license preferred
- Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to visualize three-dimensional objects from drawings and sketches
