Description
The Lockheed Martin Artificial Intelligence Center (LAIC) is seeking a highly skilled engineer with a blend of software engineering and AI/ML expertise, strong business acumen, and communication skills. This role leads the development and deployment of AI solutions to drive business value and innovation across the Lockheed Martin enterprise.
What You’ll Be Doing- Collaborating with business stakeholders to identify opportunities and develop AI solutions
- Modeling complex business and engineering problems using machine learning and feature engineering techniques
- Deploying AI capabilities and tracking projects through to completion
- Implementing best technical practices from machine learning and software engineering
- Creating knowledge materials to disseminate best practices to other AI and data science teams
- Meeting with data science leaders to teach and discuss best practices

Who Are YouYou have hands‑on experience developing and deploying AI solutions and can collaborate with cross‑functional teams. You possess strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, programming experience in machine learning and software engineering, excellent communication skills, a business focus, creative thinking, and the ability to drive projects to completion.
Basic Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with at least 5 years of professional experience, or a Master’s degree with 3 years of professional experience.
- Significant experience applying machine learning techniques to business problems (e.g., NLP, deep learning, anomaly detection, reinforcement learning).
- Experience with Python, Typescript, or compiled languages such as C++, Golang.
- Experience with software development and engineering best practices.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Experience working with Agile methodologies and projects.
- Superlative communication and interpersonal skills.
- Master’s degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure), including containerizing and deploying AI/ML models.
- Certifications in AI/ML or related fields (e.g., Tensor Flow Developer Certificate, AWS Certified Machine Learning).
- Experience leading a team of researchers and engineers.
- Familiarity with Python libraries for reinforcement learning applications (Gymnasium, rllib, Stable Baselines, RL Coach).
- Experience designing, implementing, and evaluating models, agents, and software prototypes for real‑world AI.
- Proven ability to bridge fundamental research into products and address real‑world problems through novel research.

SalaryAnnual base salary range varies by location: $125,100–$216,890 in major metropolitan areas (California, Massachusetts, New York) and $108,800–$191,820 in other states. Salary is a guideline and will consider responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and market factors.
